Gayville-Volin Standout Hirsch Signs With Mount Marty Women’s Basketball

YANKTON, SD – March 21, 2017 – Mount Marty College is pleased to announce the athletic signing of Megan Hirsch of Gayville, SD, to the women's basketball program.

Hirsch, a 5'11" Forward, has been a key figure in the recent success of the Gayville-Volin girls' athletics.  She was named All-Tri Valley Conference for the past three seasons.  She currently holds records at Gayville-Volin for rebounds in a career with 512, and rebounds in a season with 220.  She averaged a double/double this season as a senior scoring 11 points/game to go along with 10 rebounds/game.

 

Head women's basketball coach, Tom Schlimgen, is excited to welcome Megan to the team. "We are very excited that Megan as decided to become a Lancer.  She is a very tough kid who has a great desire to rebound the basketball.  Her athleticism will translate well to the college game.  We are always very happy when we can get very talented and local kids to choose to continue their careers here.  We look forward to working with Megan during her career in Yankton."

 

Hirsch will be a Pre-Professional major at Mount Marty. She is the daughter of Kent and Lori Hirsch of Gayville, SD, and she will be receiving an Academic Honor Scholarship and the St. Bede Scholarship in addition to her basketball award.
